Coaching

Welcome to the Brisbane Handball Club Coach Education and Development section. BHC maintains a coaching accreditation system for all of its coaches. Details of the requirment for each level of accreditation are set out below.

Level 1 Coach
 A coach is accredited as a Brisbane Handball Club Level 1 Coach when they successfully complete the following requirements:


  1. Be at least 14 years old to be eligible for this accreditation.
  2. Be a registered member of Brisbane Handball Club.
  3. Completed the Play by the Rules modules:
    1. Harassment and Discrimination
    2. Child Protection – 18+ years old only
  4. Attended coaching course delivered by BHC Head Coach.
  5. Completed practical assessment conducted by BHC Head Coach
  6. Hold a current Blue Card (arranged by BHC)
This accreditation is valid for a period of 2 years as long as the individual remains a member of Brisbane Handball Club.
Level 2 Coach
 A coach is accredited as a Brisbane Handball Club Level 2 Coach when they successfully complete the following requirements:


  1. Be a current Level 1 Coach.
  2. Have completed the Essential Skills Course
  3. Completed the Play by the Rules modules:
    1. Harassment and Discrimination
    2. Child Protection – 18+ years old only
  4. Attended coaching course delivered by BHC Head Coach (or have completed a European A-Class licence).
  5. Completed practical assessment conducted by BHC Head Coach
  6. Completed 10 hours of coaching per annum post assessment.
  7. Hold a current Blue Card (arranged by BHC)
This accreditation is valid for a period of 4 years as long as the individual remains a member of Brisbane Handball Club.
Level 3 Coach
 A coach is accredited as a Brisbane Handball Club Level 3 Coach when they successfully complete the following requirements:


  1. Be a current Level 2 Coach.
  2. Have completed the Intermediate Coaching Course
  3. Completed the Play by the Rules modules:
    1. Harassment and Discrimination
    2. Child Protection – 18+ years old only
  4. Attended coaching course delivered by BHC Head Coach (or have completed a European B-Class licence).
  5. Completed practical assessment conducted by BHC Head Coach
  6. Completed 50 hours of coaching per annum.
  7. Hold a current Blue Card (arranged by BHC)
  8. Hold a current First Aid certificate (arranged by BHC)
This accreditation is valid for a period of 4 years as long as the individual remains a member of Brisbane Handball Club.
Level 4 Coach
 A coach is accredited as a Brisbane Handball Club Level 4 Coach when they successfully complete the following requirements:


  1. Be a current Level 3 Coach.
  2. Have completed or be undertaking a degree in sports coaching, sport development, exercise and sports science, sport management or human movement
  3. Completed the Play by the Rules modules:
    1. Harassment and Discrimination
    2. Child Protection – 18+ years old only
  4. Attended coaching course delivered by BHC Head Coach (or have completed a European C-Class licence).
  5. Completed practical assessment conducted by BHC Head Coach
  6. Completed 50 hours of coaching per annum.
  7. Hold a current Blue Card (arranged by BHC)
  8. Hold a current First Aid certificate (arranged by BHC)
This accreditation is valid for a period of 4 years as long as the individual remains a member of Brisbane Handball Club.
